AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari joined the Italian club’s pre-season on Monday despite being ruled out of action for six months.

The passionate enforcer joined the club’s first day of the season on Monday afternoon as they had lunch ahead of the start of training.

Muntari was at the Milanello – the club’s training training grounds – as all the players arrived for the start of the training in the evening at 5pm.

While the other players will take to the pitch Muntari will be confined to the treatment room of the club as he undergoes training to make him recover.

Muntari will spend six months on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery.

The Ghana international tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last month and was forced to have surgery to correct the problem.

Muntari put in several consistent displays after joining Milan on loan at the start of the year, and was reported to be set to sign a permanent deal.
