Sulley Muntari explains choice for Milan number 4 jersey

Posted On Thursday, 2nd August 2012

Sulley Muntari he decided to wear the number 4 jersey at AC Milan

AC Milan ace Sulley Muntari says he requested for the number 4 shirt for the upcoming season instead of his favourite number 11.

There were reports the midfielder had been overlooked for his trademark number 11 jersey which has been unassigned by Milan.

Muntari claims he made the request at the shirt number which was used by Mark Van Bommel who left at the end of last season.

“I have taken the No.4 shirt which belonged to Mark van Bommel. I like the number,” the 27-year-old said.

“At the end of the season I said to Mark that I wanted to take his number and he was happy. He encouraged me.”

Muntari wore the number 14 jersey when he joined the Rossoneri on loan in February from rivals Inter Milan.
