Sulley Muntari: AC Milan star's father reveals Nigerian roots
Sulley Muntari's father has revealed midfielder has Nigerian heritage

Father of AC Milan star midfielder Sulley Muntari, Alhaji Muniru has publicly revealed that he hails from Nigeria.

Muntari's Ghanaian backyard has been questioned in the past but his father revealed on Thursday night on a Ghanaian radio station - Asempa FM that he comes from Nigeria.

"Yes, I come from Nigeria. We moved here from Nigeria and we have been living here since," he said in the Interview.

Muntari's father, an ex-footballer, has been speaking about his son's attack on a Ghana team official during the 2014 World Cup and decided to respond to questions about his Nigerian heritage.

The attack which took place in Brazil has landed Muntari in trouble as he has been put on international suspension by the Ghana Football Association.

"He's been remorseful and has personally admitted he made mistakes to me. I have called up the man (Moses Armah) and officially apologised to him and the issue is resolved," he revealed.

Sulley is not a bad guy. Maybe he was pushed to the wall or somebody influenced him to do what he did.

In one sense, Muntari always stands up for the truth and that's in our bloods. It's something his grandfather thought us all."
