Zambia in driving seat as Sudan lose 2014 World Cup appeal, Ghana in danger

Saif Ali Sudan was ineligible to play for Sudan in their qualifier against Zambia last June
Zambia are in the driving seat in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers after sport’s highest court CAS rejected Sudan’s appeal for fielding an ineligible player, leaving Ghana in danger of missing out of the tournament in Brazil.
Sudan protested against the decision by FIFA to strip them of their victory over the Chipolopolo claiming they fielded an unqualified player which resulted in the North Africans reporting the matter to CAS for redress.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) says it rejected the Sudanese Football Association’s appeal against the FIFA ruling to award Zambia a 3-0 win by default.
The court’s ruling puts Zambia top with six points from two matches, three ahead of Ghana. Sudan falls to third with one point. Lesotho also has one point.
This means the Black Stars must win the remainder of the qualifiers in Group against Sudan, Lesotho and Zambia to be able to clinch the group’s top spot.

Interesting question, how about the team that beat both Ghana and Ivory Coast, drew with current campions Nigeria and finalists Burkina Faso. Zambia have the capacity to take any team, unlike Ghana who crumble under pressure. No offence intended, but lets face it, Ghana, like Ivory Coast fail to perform at the big stage and usually when it matters.
I’m not confident we’ll qualify cos the coach isn’t competent enough go handle such a task. He’s not even looking to win back our best players so I won’t even put my heart into this.

In our game againt Zambia, if Appiah was smart He should have crafted a strategy, that would have allow us to at least given us one point.ie force a draw.
zambia katongo score early against us in that game in ndola. that means we played almost 70mins and appiah was still not able to get an equalizer goal in that over 70minutes of game play. if plavi had stayed, u can tell zambia will not have beaten ghana the second time telling from how we outplayed them and even missed penalties in afcon 12.
By the way, all critics of the coach should ask why none of the Ayews scored in the remaining 70 minutes??? The coach cannot get on the field and move your legs for you.

Zambia deserve the 3pts and 3goals because the sudanese fielded a disqualified player in their home match against them.The hercullian task ahead of us now is to win our 2 home and away matches agains sudan,our match against lesotho and beat the Zambians at home by a margin of more than one goal.In the event of both Ghana and Zambia winning their next 3matches,the final match between them will be the deciding factor.Should we win that match by a margin of more than a goal, the head to head rule will see us through.But the big question is,how can we do all these without a TACTICIAN?.

Ghana will still qualify with more goals aggregate. Zambia may drop some points against Sudan before meeting Ghana, that is possible because Sudanese are very, very angry. Even Lesotho will not be an easy game for Zambians who couldn’t beat Ethiopia.

Ghana must win their remaining 3 matches. They can beat Sudan, Lesotho and Zambia but it will all come down to player selection. If the Coach selects players who are in form with their Clubs and are playing first division football or are playing 90 minutes per game then Ghana should be OK. Muntari, KPB, Essien, Dede must all be convinced to return. Waris, Atsu, Wakaso, Akaminko, Badu, Boye, Mensah, Vorsah, Adam, Dauda, Rabiu, Gyan, Afful plus 6 local players. The best 2 strikers, best 2 midfielders the best goalie and the best full back. These players must all be playing 90 minutes period.
With this formula even Coach Appiah cannot screw it up.
