Daniel Coleman insists every side needs a ‘bad boy’ to be successful – in support of Laryea Kingston’s decision to quit Hearts of Oak.

The Ghana international slapped in a letter of his decision to have his contract with the Ghana Premier League giants terminated with immediate effect.

But the club’s board declined the 32-year-old’s request insisting he remain their bonafide property until his contract runs out.

Kingston’s decision stems from several spats with coaches and officials.

The ex Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder is currently serving out his latest indefinite suspension for an alleged assault on the club’s accountant who was serving him an official notice of docked wages.

While many have condemned the conduct of Kingston since his decision to rejoin the club last year, his ex teammate says the player was right to quit the side.

“Every now and then you hear Laryea (Kingston) has done this, he has done that,” Coleman told Accra-based Hot FM.

“There were even more stubborn players at Hearts during the successful spell of Jones (Attuquayfio).

“But he managed to rally the boys together and get the best out of us.

“The stubborn players are always the best players and every team needs such players.”

Coleman’s comments appear to be a vote of support for players with no discipline.

Kingston flouted camp rules by refusing to return his car from Hearts’ pre-season before the start of the current campaign.

He later rained insults and ridiculed the personality of former coach CK Akunnor – leading to his first suspension with the team.

He was reinstated with the sacking of Akunnor and the appointment of David Duncan but again went hay-wire when he allegedly assaulted the club’s accountant for serving him official notice of a withheld salary.

Journalism in Ghana is another way of misquoting people! Coleman’s explanation of bad boys usually are the best players does not mean or in fact does not imply that he is supporting indisciplined tendencies. It is true that most of this bad boys are bad because of their no-how. Players such as CANTONA, ABU IMORO, SHAINU GRANT, BALOTELLI AND EVEN OUT OF SOCCER YOU DO HAVE SPORTSMEN who are the so called bad boys. To mention a few out of soccer is: DENIS RODMAN AND MIKE TYSON. They do what they do best. They also stands out among others. Can we stop misquoting people Just because you can. It has to seize.

WE MISSED THIOS MAN AT THE AFCON AND THIS COST US A LOT!

  4. If displine alone plays football, then the GFA member should play for their black star coz they are of that charcter. Allow those who knows how to play the game and stop that displinery cases. Consider the cases of Cantona,Tevez,Bawua etc. Yet they do well on th field.
