Jonathan Opoku lobbing the ball home for Veendam's equaliser

Dutch-born Ghanaian striker Jonathan Opoku got on target for Veendam who beat ten-man Excelsior 3-2 in the Dutch Eerste Divisie on Friday.

The 22-year-old restored parity for the Groningen-based side just after the hour mark with a superb lob after Elvis Manu had set up two goals to put Excelsior into the lead.

The Arnhem-born applied an intelligent lob to a Schmeltz rebound in the 62nd minute to put the Yellow Armies on level pecking.

Compatriot Mitch Apau was sent off in the 52nd minute after a silly challenge on Feyenoord loanee Elvis Manu.

Despite playing at a man’s disadvantage, Opoku’s Veendam went ahead to win the game and climb to ninth place.

Gh sld watch out for the Dutch-Ghanaian collectiöns of Memphis Depay, Edwin Gyasi, Elvis Manu & Jonathan Opoku. This guys r potential world class playerz, especially Elvis Manu- he is a Wing Wizard with goal scoring prowess. He reminds me of Alexis Sanchez in his Udinese Days. THE FA SLD LOOK SHARP! But i doubt if they wld switch… B’coz they got a Certain Owusu Abeyie in Mind! He is their Scale
