Striker Kwesi Appiah who plays for English four-tier side Cambridge United is one of the shock inclusions in Ghana’s squad for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 24-year-old, who is owned by English Premier League side Crystal Palace, is among the provisional 31-man squad released on Wednesday.

His six goals in 18 League Two appearances seem to have convinced Ghana coach Avram Grant.

Appiah must fight for a place in the final squad and faces competition from Jordan Ayew, Abdul-Majeed Waris, Asamoah Gyan and David Accam.

He was born in Thamesmead, England and began his professional career with Crystal Palace in 2012.

But never made an impact at Selhurst Park and had to be farmed out by lower division sides Yeovil Town, Notts County and AFC Wimbledon.
