Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom converted from the spot twenty minutes from time to give Sassuolo a narrow 1-0 win over Cittadella in the Italian Serie B on Saturday.

The 20-year-old had been limited to second-half cameos since returning from the 2013 AFCON in South Africa but he was handed a starting berth by Sassuolo manager Eusebio Di Francesco and he proved his worth by scoring the only goal of the game in the 70th minute.

Cittadella who were aiming to return from the Stadio Alberto Braglia with a decent result and push up the ladder, had frustrated the league leaders, denying them of any decent scoring opportunity.

But the visitors’ resolve were broken mid-way through the second-half as Boakye expertly rifled home a penalty kick to seal the win for Sassuolo to take his season tally to ten in 15 games.

Compatriot Yussif Raman Chibsah came off the bench on the 74th minute mark to replace Paolo Frascatore.

Sassuolo have opened a 11 point lead at the top of the Serie B table.

Abi Egypt beat us.those calling for Silas Tetteh for BS should take note.

  2. Divaro says:

@Dr. Who. Were u blind? Was it not obvious he can do better than Kwasi Appiah.so u were praying we lose so u can come here and make such comments. U are not serious at all.

  3. ghanaman says:

Kwesi Appiah is the best local coach we have had in the last 31 years. In 31 years no local coach has achieved what Head Coach Kwesi Appiah achieved. Give him time and he will send Ghana to new heights!

  4. Dr Who says:

@Divaro,you talk as if you dont have a head on your loose neck. What did you see in the match that makes you grade Silas ahead of Appiah? This is the same Egyptian side our U20 defeated in Accra prior to the qualifying series last year by a different coach. Were some of you not calling AA bad for losing to burkina via penalties?

  5. Chu says:

Am I seeing a different caption or what? Praise Yiadom for his success and stop sour blackstars arguments
