Stevanovic explains Afful AFCON squad snub

Posted On Friday, 16th December 2011

Harrison Afful

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic says he picked youngster Massawudu Alhassan ahead of Harrison Afful because the former is a natural left-footer.

The 18-year-old Genoa youth team left-back was picked as one of the left-back in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations provisional squad.

Afful made a strong case for a return to the Ghana squad by scoring the final winning goal which earned Esperance the Caf Champions League trophy.

But the Serbian trainer feels Alhassan’s potentials could help his quest to win the title.

“Massawudu Alhassan is young and a natural left-footer. I decided to pick him because he is quicker and I feel he can help me better,” he said.

  1. GFA VICE PRESIDENT. says:

No but you guys are wrong. Adomah and Quincy were dropped simply because they do not have any one in the GFA to back them and also they did not pay the payo so how do you expect the coach to include them? Stupid GFA. Fire burn you and the coach all including your stupid people who gives you the Ideas of selecting players.Who would have thought that Adomah and Qunicy would be dropped?I don’t blame you guys. Can you guys tell me that all the midfielders you selected are going to play all the matches? We live to see. Some of them will be benched until the end of the tournament and yet still, they will be paid for winning bonuses and that is where the GFA people get their share. How much will you big guys do with $2000 even if that is what each player who is suppose to pay payo gives you? What is the benefit? Is it not far better for you guys to include Adomah and Quincy to at least add more colors to the team instead of benching your so called players who will be benched without playing even a single game. You guys should MARK my words here.Let us all monitor the tournament from the beginning to the end and see if some of the players called will not be benched till the end.You guys better drop Tagoe,Jordan and Lee Addy and include Quincy and Adomah instead. What the fuck are you guys doing there in the GFA at all? Don’t you have sense? Oh this bullshit. I even don’t know what to say again. Am soo angry right now.Even David Addy the U-20 left back who won the World Cup is far better than Lee Addy but Lee is always called to this squad as Tagoe does. Why at all? It got to a time that Adiyah was being called ahead of Ransford Osei simply because Ransford was soo stupid to do the jonky work and provided all the necessary balls to Adiyah to score during the U-20 world cup. Where is Ransford now? Did we give him enough time as Adiyah was given? Now,you see your stupidity? Where is Adiyah now? You guys in the GFA will forever be greedy until you die. You think money will take you anywhere? You better watch out this time and see. Fuck yo’s all and your damn family.

  2. texas says:

None of you guys crying for Quincy and adomah knew anything about adomah until plavi called him, and even at that time that he was called most you criticized his call. Now the same people are calling for the head of plavi for not including Quincy and adomah in the final squad. However, none of you complainers have yet to name players in the squad that Quincy and adomah should replace. You people asked the coach to defend his choice of players and he has done that so what else do you want the coach to do?

  3. Banku Bodorr says:

At least Quincy should have been in the team

    • texas says:

To replace who? Out of the selected 25, only 23 are needed.

    • Sane says:

Would you guys stop with this Quincy nonsense. The guy does not fit the coach’s style of play and the coach has said that is many ways. Because he is a good player does not mean he should be on the team. Each coach has a different idea of how to do things and if you don’t fit the mold, you should not get a call because you would not be effective.

  4. barbarian says:
