Ex Ghana international Anthony Baffoe says Stephen Appiah is best suited to take up a ââ¬Ëredefinedââ¬â¢ team manger role in the Black Stars.
The former Koln and Fortuna Dusseldorf defenderââ¬â¢s comments joins a chorus of suggestions being made to improve the national team following Ghanaââ¬â¢s disappointing finish at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to the FIFA and CAF match general cordinator, current team managers are rather working as welfare officers.
Baffoe believes these are some of the needed changes to be made not only in the Black Stars, but the other national teams and even clubs.
ââ¬ÅTeam manger in Ghana is a welfare officer but team manager in Europe is a very high position,â⬠he said on GTVââ¬â¢s Stage Africa show.
ââ¬ÅThis is a person you knows the game, often a former player so has the respect of all.
ââ¬ÅIts more like a team director, a very high position.
ââ¬ÅLook at people like Oliver Bierhoff, Mathias Sammer, Fernando Hierro. Have you seen the way they play their role as team managers?ââ¬
The 47-year-old adds ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah is the most equip to take up the ââ¬Ëredefinedââ¬â¢ role of a team manager in the Black Stars.
ââ¬ÅFor me, Stephen Appiah is the right person to play this role.ââ¬
