Ghana and Hearts of Oak legend Stephen Appiah has discovered a hugely talented striker Kenneth Okoro, leading the youngster to sign a three-year contract with the Accra giants.

Appiah took the youngster he is currently mentoring for the talent discovery trials by Hearts of Oak before the Phobians saw the exploits of the brilliant young striker Okoro.

The boy passed the test with distinction which led the club to quickly offer him a three-year contract.

Okoro, whose elder sister is actress Yvonne Okoro, is expected to graduate quickly to the senior side.

Appiah, the ex-national star, spoke to the club’s website when he led Okoro to sign a three- year deal at the Hearts Secretariat.

Appiah, who captained Ghana to her two World Cup appearances, regrets Hearts of Oak’s seeming neglect of its tradition of developing young talents like himself and Ishmael Addo who were discovered at the colts level.

“I believe Hearts of Oak must go back to that tradition; that’s why I was happy to hear the club was organising a talent hunt for the reserve team. It should be encouraged and improved.”

With Appiah's eagle eyes watching, Okoro is expected to quickly grow to become a national asset.

Meanwhile Appiah's two sons Larry and Rodney, who played for the Juventus youth academy, could follow in their father's footsteps as they are already maturing into talented players.
