Spain’s Fabregas wary of Portugal threat – They have Ronaldo and Nani

Published on: 26 June 2012

Cesc Fabregas suggests that Spain will have to be very careful when they take on Portugal at Euro2012.

The reigning world and European champions meet their neighbours in the semi-final in Donetsk on Wednesday and the Barcelona ace is well aware that Paulo Bento’s Portuguese side have plenty of dangerous players.

"I think they play a different system from Real Madrid, but one of Portugal's strengths is having Ronaldo and Nani,” he told Marca.

"If I were the coach of Portugal I would play on the counter. They can do much damage, but surely if we defend very well together we will have a good game.”

He added: "You have players like (Joao) Moutinho or (Raul) Meireles that hold the ball very well, and others of the quality of (Miguel) Veloso, so they may surprise you in many ways."
