Mumuni Abubakar could join Black Leopards

South African second-tier side Black Leopards are interested in signing midfielder Mumuni Abubakar from rival Sundowns even though the Ghanaian is on the verge of sealing a move to Belgium, according to Soccer Laduma.

The 19-year-old, who is unlikely to have a future at Chloorkop, is eyeing a move to another club this season.

Abubakar recently returned from a trial in Belgium.

A source in the know told the Siya crew that Leopards are keen on the player with a view to add him to Kosta Papic’s squad.

“Mamelodi Sundowns and Black Leopards recently played a friendly game and the issue of the Ghanaian player came out from there. Leopards are showing interest in him,” said the source.

The Brazilians recently signed three players from Leopards in Raymond Monama, Tiyani Mabunda and Rodney Ramagalela.

It is believed that Leopards will be keen to have Abubakar with them on loan for the 2013/14 season.

Lidoda Duvha already have a Ghanaian player in the team’s books, having signed Karim Alhassan in this transfer window.
