South African club Sundown to axe Ghanaian flops Baffour, Abubakar

Emmanuel Baffouir has not been impressive since moving to Sundowns

South African side, Mamelodi Sundowns, have moved to clear two of their foreign signings off their wage bill sooner rather than later after both proved flops.
The Ghana pair of striker Emmanuel Baffour and midfielder Mumuni Abubakar are to be offloaded if Sundowns can find a taker in the January transfer window.

Both have featured just fleetingly since signing for the club at the start of the season and according to club officials are not part of the plans of new coach Pitso Mosimane.

Baffour arrived in South Africa with much expectation after finishing as the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League. The 23-year-old signed from New Edubaise after having won a first cap for the Ghana Black Stars.

But he made little impact at the Brazilians. The same is true for the 20-year-old Abubaker, who was voted the Ghana Premier League’s 2010-11 Player of the Year by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.

Sundowns signed him on a two-year deal but are keen to cut their losses.

Ghana best players and their flops, hmmmm

    • Ghanaman says:

They made them flop on purpose for a psychological advantage. Maybe they are annoyed that guys like this are nowhere near the Black Stars but, the black stars are the BIGGEST team in Africa

      • GH FUO, THINK BIG!!! says:

ARE THESE 2 THE ONLY GH PLAYERS PLAYING IN SOUTH AFRICA? THEY R SIMPLY NOT READY MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY, SPIRITUALLY N PSYCHOLOGICALLY FOR THE HEAT IN THE S AFRICAN PREMIERSHIP. OTHER GH PLAYERS RVDOING WELL IN THE S AFRICAN LEAGUE SO ASK URSELF WHY?

  2. real sabacious says:

A true version of local players, this buttress the point same of us have making on this forum.yahaha mohammed struggled with og nice, clottey was a big time flop when he tried to ply his trade in europe, kweku essien,Alex Asamoah, afful couldnt secure a deal with bristol when he went on trials etc.this put a question mark on why david addy, jordan, abeyie, warris and nana akwasi were overlooked and kissi boateng, clottey afful, yahaha mohammed and those crap local base players in the team.

  3. Dr Who says:

Dr KK Sarpong should go for Baffour either on loan or complete signing if indeed Kotoko needs a striker. The current kotoko strike force are jokers & they cant achieve anything for the reds.

  4. adwoabakofi says:

    dis story is not true…

  5. kimco says:

@ real sabcious: your logic is so horrifying i can’t begin to image.

  6. real sabacious says:

@kimco u dont know what u r talking about,be honest the ur self!with the exception of the keepers,no local player merit a place in the stars.

  7. Blow says:

It is crystal clear that Baffour will definately not be given a second chance @ sundowns because he he failed dismally and to say the least no positives to be emphasized. What beats my imagination is that he failed to take his chances in the few matches he played due to lack of self confidence. Having game time in a team like Sundowns is few and far between so you either Go big or Go home.
