South Africa football authorities have held a meeting to specifically learn from Ghana's experiences at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations hoping they can replicate some of the Black Stars ways in future to help bring them success in Africa's flagship football competition.

Bafana Bafana’s early exit from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations has indirectly helped the powers that be at the South African Football Association (SAFA) on the ways to improve the team’s performances for the upcoming tournaments and the future of football in the country.

According to a report b y Soccer Laduma,  the top management within SAFA recently had their meetings behind closed doors, discussing what transpired in Equatorial Guinea earlier this year.

Bafana had a disappointing campaign in this year’s AFCON, despite the high hopes of the team ahead of the tournament.

Sources close to SAFA and Bafana have revealed to the Siya crew that Shakes Mashaba’s technical team learnt a few lessons from the tournament, despite coming home without a single win from the three games played by the team.

Bafana were accommodated in the same hotel as Ghana in Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana were one of the best teams during this year’s AFCON, which proved that the side had better preparations and ideas for the tournament.

The Black Stars lost to Ivory Coast in the final of the prestigious football event. It is believed that SAFA are looking to take a page out of the West African’s book that finished the tournament as runners-up.

In their meeting, SAFA officials identified a number of differences between SA and Ghana.

Ghana had three experienced assistant coaches in their technical team, while Mashaba only had Owen da Gama and Thabo Senong assisting him.

The other differences between the two nations has not been revealed but they are hoping their findings will steer them for a better tournament next time.
