Slovakian Super Liga side Nitra say signing former Ghana captain John Mensah will be historic for the club.

The Trogári were founded in 1909 but cannot boast of any high-profile signing or player who has moved on to greater heights.

Mensah, a former Lyon, Rennes and Sunderland player, has arrived in the city of Nitra to finalize his move.

The 31-year-old has been inactive since leaving Rennes last summer after the expiration of a short term deal.

Nitra FC are struggling in the Slovakian top-flight and believe the signing of Mensah can help improve their fortunes.

“I do not know the last time a player with such a history came to Nitra. We took this opportunity and I believe that he will be ready physically and play soccer,” Nitra General Manager Joseph Petrani.

Interesting, Akwasi Appiah cannot say no to you. You will be in Brazil 2014. You will be the rock in our weak defense.

  2. T Morris says:

The Black Stars defense indeed needs a serious look and hopeful John Mensah could regain fitness just in time to join in with his rich experience.
The heart of defense which appears to be going through experimentation cannot stand the barrage of attacks of the world renowned strikers from Germany and Portugal as it stands now.
And this is no offense to the Akaminkos, Boyes, Sumailas, Jonathan Mensahs, to mention a few.

The need for an impregnable defense cannot be over-emphasized.

  4. 21guns says:

  6. Kwabena says:

@ Sticky, that is a figment of your psychotic imagination. Don’t be naive please. An in-form John Mensah can outshine, outclass and outplay all the best defenders in the world. John Mensah, go for the kill. Brazil 2014 will be the icing on the cake for Ghana Black Stars including John Mensah; in the name of Jesus Christ, amen!

  7. Asenegal says:

There has been 6 comments so far but only the only 4rm sticky straw starts with an insult. That shows the kind of village this sticky straw comes 4rm
