Former Ghana defender Shilla Illiasu and his elder brother Alhassan have signed for struggling Premier League side Real Tamale United.

Illiasu has recovered from a career threatening ankle injury and looks set to return to the pitch after three years in the treatment room.

The 28-year-old was released by Russian Premier League side FC Saturn.

His inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations sparked controversy after he failed to regain his fitness and never kicked a ball during the tournament duration.

Alhassan, a striker, has agreed to sign a five-month contract with the Tamale-based side with a move to Egyptian Premier League side Ismailia pending.

He joins from Ghanaian second tier side Guan United.
