Sex scandal hits Ghanaian referees as Mary Adama cites top officials

Posted On Thursday, 1st November 2012

Mary Adama failed to pass a mandatory cooper test because she refused to have sex with top officials, the disqualified referee has claimed.

Adama went on a verbal tirade and accused some officials of constantly demanding sex from female referees before they are given the pass book.

Adama was disqualified after she failed to get the required mark but claims her decision to resist numerous sexual overtures attributed to her inability to go through the process.

An angry Adama fingered three top notch officials including Alex Quartey, Henry Wellington and L.O Laryea as the chief architects.

“God will punish L.O Laryea, Alex Quartey and Wellington. That is what they’ve been doing all this while. If you refuse to sleep with them, they will make sure you fail,” Adama fumed on Accra-based Oman FM

“They will encounter a miserable death. Where is God? Does he exits at all. If he does, then he must do something.

“Otherwise I will be better off by serving an idol. As for those officials, God will punish them and they will die like animals.

The latest episode is a damning blow to the already battered image of the association.

Referees in the country have been hugely criticized for their poor performance and the sex allegations against such top officials could derail confidence for those who may harbour dreams of venturing into the profession.

Referee Wellington has however, denied the accusations but insists he won’t report her conduct to the Ethics Committee or take legal action against her.
