Milovan Rajevac to stage return to the Black Stars

The Ghana FA is close to naming Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac as the new technical adviser for the Black Stars, the BBC has reported.

The 60-year-old is one of the shortlisted candidates for the new job.

The three-man sub-committee have settled on three candidates and have forwarded their report to the powerful Executive Committee for further consideration.

Rajevac however stands tall amongst the shortlisted candidates due to his impressive work while coaching the Black Stars between 2008 and 2010.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to make a choice amongst the three-shortlisted candidates.

He appears inclined towards choosing the Serbian due to the excellent working relationship which existed between them while he was serving as his assistant.

There is however a bigger issue with the negotiation of Rajevac’s remuneration which threatens to scupper the appointment.

The ex Qatar coach’s heightened salary demands was the reason he did not extend his stay with the Black Stars in the first place following the expiration of his contract after the 2010 World Cup.

“We have not settled on [Milovan] Rajevac yet,” Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara told GHANAsoccernet.com when called to validate the information.

The GFA is expected to engage the shortlisted candidates in the coming days with prime focus on their wage demands and special expertise they will be expected to perform when eventually handed the job.

The announcement of an appointment is expected by the end or early next week to give the new man time to prepare to join up with the team's preparations towards the opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers early next month.
