Badarra Diatta to officiate Chelsea vrs Zamalek Champions Legaue opener

Diatta Badara has been appointed the center referee for Berekum Chelsea’s Caf Champions League match against Zamalek this weekend.

The Senegal referee will be assisted by compatriot Djribril Camara and Felicien Kabanda in the game which will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Badara returns to Ghana in a space of five weeks after taking charge of Ghana’s thrashing of Lesotho in the opening 2014 World Cup qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

He was also responsible for the sending off of John Mensah during the Black Stars’ opening 2012 Nations Cup win over Botswana.

Chelsea will however hope to have similar luck of victory with the lanky referee in charge when they play their first home game in the group stage of Africa’s flagship competition.

The officials are expected in town latest by Friday in time for the Saturday afternoon kickoff of which the time is yet to be confirmed.

U fooz, u shud tok of the big game he officiated than toking of minor games lik Ghana vs Botswana watsoever. The biggest game he had officiated so far in his life was when 8 rounds of copper bullet kiled an elephant in Gabon in the names of African Champions Zambia and Ivory Coast. So dnt writ 4 the sake of writing. Dull pipo.

  2. Chinchinga Lapaz says:

This ref is a true professional indeed, not that bribed Tunisian referee that was bias in Zambia.God will punish him!

  3. kwame-Blazefame says:

so finally, the venue has been changed, ok I hope my the blues of Ghana and later with a name change will win this game with a clean sheet, if a goal less draw so be it. Good luck. Accra people now u have to go to this game to cheer the solely Gh rep. If not chelsea so should stick to Berekum for their home games as they have done previously. peace.
