Schalke have named Ghanaian midfielder Anthony Annan in their squad to face Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night, boosting his slim hopes of making the Black Stars' World Cup squad.

Annan, who is yet to play a match for the Bundesliga side this season, is among the 18 players selected to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With the tie almost beyond the reach of Schalke after they were humiliated 6-1 in the first-leg, Schalke boss Jens Keller is likely to give Annan the chance to play a part in the game.

This will give him the chance to rest some of the key players for their Bundesliga match this coming weekend thus giving the likes of Annan the chance to showcase their talents.

Star Ghanaian players Kevin-Prince Boateng was also included in the squad to play the match.

Annan is seeking a place in Ghana's squad for the World Cup and some playing time in the Champions League will boost his chances.
