Schalke 04 manager Horst Heldt has lauded the tenacity of Ghana star midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng since his arrival from AC Milan.
The 26-year-old joined the Royal Blues on a surprise move on transfer deadline day and has steered the club to a string of glistening displays.
Boateng scored on his second game for Schalke, clinching victory at Mainz 05 with a 34th minute half volley from the edge of the box.
He perpetuated his scoring form for Schalke by netting the second in the 3-0 win over Romanian giants Steaua Bucure?ti on Wednesday.
Boateng’s presence has propelled Schalke from the relegation zone to a above a mid-table place and Horst Heldt, the former German international has hailed Boateng for his brimming energy levels and determination to win.
“You could see from the first training session, he trained with full force and you could see he is an absolute quality player,” he said.
The former VfL Stuttgart and German international midfielder also believes his side have the capacity to seal a place in the knock rounds of the Uefa Champions League after edging the Romanians.
“This game we wanted to win and needed to win if we want to survive the group stage.”
