Have Your Say: Who should be Ghana’s number one goalkeeper at the 2014 World Cup

Football - 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier - Ghana v Sudan - Accra

The longer Fatau Dauda stays on the Orlando Pirates bench, Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has to decide what is good for the country ahead of the World Cup finals and that means giving Adam Kwarasey and others a ago.

The global showpiece is barely four months away and the position of who becomes the  country’s number one goalkeeper has become a topical in the West African country.

Current number one Fatau Dauda has been dropped for next week’s international friendly against Montenegro but officials insist he will make the World Cup squad.

But with Adam Kwarasey, Stephen Adams, Richard Kingson and Razak Brimah playing week-in-week out, should the coach give them the nod?

South Africa-based Daniel Agyei is also in the running while Isaac Amoako, George Owu and Foli Adade are considered outsiders.

Adam kwarasey no doubt! Olele must be around to inspire and encourage him.No Dauda!!

  2. kuukuphilly says:

the way things are playing out with dauda I wouldn’t be suprised to see kwarasey with the gloves.stephen Adams should be # 2 and Daniel adjei to follow..

    Keepers
    1. Adambatia Larsen Kwarasey
    Subs
    Stephen Adams, Dauda

    Defense
    2. Opare, sub-Inkoom
    3. Afful, sub-David Addy
    4. Boye, sub-Akaminko
    5. John Mensah
    sub- Jonathan Mensah

If Vorsah recovers he might kick out Jonathan Mensah who is not performing very well right now. He mostly sits on the bench for his team in France (Evian Thornon Garland)

    Midfield
    6. Essien, sub- Badu
    8. Kojo Asamoah, sub-Rabiu Moh

    Wings
    7. Dede, sub- Atsu
    11. Muntari, sub-Wakasso

    Strikers
Gyan and Kevin will pair up in a 442 formation upfront.

    9. Gyan, sub-
    10. Kevin (KPB), sub- Warris

The last position will be battled out between Jordan Ayew, Albert Adomah (Kwasi Appiah’s darling boy) and Richmond Boakye Yiadom. I will pick Yiadom over the other two because he will score when he gets the chance. Jordan is skillful but finds it difficult scoring a goal. Adomah could be considered because if Kevin is being used as a striker then we already have three strikers ( Gyan, KPB and Warris) and don’t need a fourth one. Jordan could be considered over the other two because he is the darling boy of the fans and Abedi Pele’s son.

      Ainooson should be in defence.

    • Edem - says:

I prefer a 4-2-3-1 style of play to the 4-4-2. Better coverage for the D, space on flanks for speedy and creative guys, direct vertical style of play.
Gk – Kwarasey unless someone beats him out in camp.
      Question answered.
D – Opare, Boye, Jonathan, Mensah, Asamoah (Like Lam’s RB role for Germany, free to advance play and join attack)
Holding Mid – Essien (r), Muntari (l) what better chemistry than 2 guys practicing daily
Attacking Mid – Warris (r), KPB, Ayew (l) all capable of holding possession in attacking third, drawing fouls on build-up, can create own chances
Striker – Gyan can put pressure on CB, prolific scorer
This will be a winning formula if they play compact team defence with 10 behind the ball. Should definitely be employed if we fall behind.
The only challenge will be the pressure it will put on our defence against Portugal since Nani and CR7 play so high up the pitch the space between the sidelines and the holding mids would be exploited with switching balls and players.
I commend this coach for only inviting guys getting regular minutes in the clubs, man of his word to date. As an athlete what else can you ask for and as fans winning is all we ask for and they are doing that.
I believe with the age and talent of this squad we can be the 1st African country to win it all this year, it all comes down to their desire and work rate.

  4. GHFUO, be serious & change ur MENtality says:

    kwarasay, adams, adjei

  5. rass says:

ADAM KWARASEY, STEPHEN ADAMS AND DAVID ADJEI

    • Assemblyman says:

Yeah I agree. But its Daniel Adjei bro not David. He plays in the same guy as Fatau day in and out.And he does well with his club.I think it will be a big crime against some of these consistent goalkeepers.Should Fatau Dauda make it to Brazil. All the same his link man in the management Yakubu still keep his post.Unless that man is fired, thats when we can see some fairness in the goalkeeping deparment

  6. Kwabena says:

    Larsen Adam Kwarasey

  7. Papadinho says:

Adams Kwarasey, Adams, Agyei. Fuck juju dauda he can rot on the damn bench of pirates nobody cares.

  8. Jaja says:

If Daniel Adjei plays in Dauda’s league but is actually playng, then he should be calle ahead of Dauda. But Dauda is hyped up so much, everytime I check GSN, I see an article about Dauda on GSN.

  9. don says:

    Adam kweresay for sure!

  10. Kwame Adu-Gyamfi says:

    Adam Kwarasey

  11. kassim says:

    ADAM KWARASEY. IS THE BEST

  12. Ogya says:

    No doubt Adam Kwarasey

  13. WISEMAN says:

there is a saying ” two heads are better than one ” the coach must now realised that almost every ghanaian want ADAM KWARASEY TO keep the post 95% compare to the corrupt goal keeping dept i dont even know who is in charge this is really a mess . the head coach must wake up or ghanaian will not forgive him if this situation is not corrected . we are talking abt great players . in europe, asia ,n & s america and the rest . ADAM is an advance goal keeper no doubt , captain , champion , very excellent in commanding the post .the goal keeping dept is taking advantage over him been SO QUIET UNLIKE PRINCE BOATENG . Now my input is that #1 ADAM KWARASEY ,,#2 OLELE #3 STEPHEN ADAMS THX
