Santos fans pledge support for Ghana in CHAN final against Libya

The supporter’s wing of South African club Santos have declared their support for the Black Stars in Saturday’s CHAN final against Libya.

The home-based Black Stars team qualified for the grand finale of the competition with a hard fought penalty shootout win over rivals Nigeria on Wednesday.

Coach Maxwell Konadu’s team have moved from their team base in Bloemfontein – where they have enjoyed tremendous support from the locals – to Cape Town where the finals will be played.

The Black Stars have however been assured of a new form of support from Santos FC who have Ghana defender John Paintsil amongst their ranks of players.

Supporter’s chief of the club Yusif Mbamah issued a statement to the effect of their support for the Black Stars in the CHAN finals against Libya.

“We the supporters of Santos FC have declared our support for Ghana in the CHAN finals against Libya,” Mbamah said.

“We are going to support John Paintsil’s Ghana to win this cup.”

Ghana will be facing Libya for the second time in the competition.

Both teams played out a 1-1 draw when they first clashed at the group stage earlier on in the tournament.
