Samuel Afum stole the show in the Swiss Super League top-liner as he came off the bench to score a prolific finish for Young Boys in their 2-1 reverse at giants FC Basel on Sunday.

The ‘Yellow and Blacks’ had held their host at the St. Jakob Park with great determination but failed to find the back of the net until Afum arrived in the 55th after being introduced by tactician Uli Forte.

And there was nothing like a spectacular strike from the Ghanaian international that sent the travelling fans into wild jubilation as he claimed the opener with a great finish in the 71st minute.

The former Hearts of Oak man worked himself into space, eluded the defence and powered in a header from a corner.

Voser, Degen and Ivanov were all supposed to keep Afum in check but the sentinels could stand and admire the power with energy with which he went up and steered the ball into goal for the visitors.

But right after Afum had given them the lead, they went to sleep and Basel equalised and claimed the match winner within a space of 60 seconds.

Great goal by all standards. I watched the match and i think Affum will be a great addition to the Black Stars. He doesn’t only scores goals but his total play and work-rate is amazing. The way he supports the midfield when his team does not have the ball and the quickness with which he moves from midfield to attack is wort watching. Affum keep up the good work.AA when will u call this gem of a striker? when AA?

Haabaaa!! AA what else do you want Affum to do before you hand him a call up? This chap has proven himself in the GPL, Egyptian league and he’s now scoring and giving assists in Switzerland. With Warris struggling with injuries and playing time it would have been wise for AA to throw in Samuel “The Jet” Affum for this week’s doubleheader. This guy can boast of pace, incredible work rate, brilliant footwork and can take on his markers with ease, he makes defenders work a lot. We wont forgive AA if he doesn’t invite Affum for the WC play-offs which am confident we’ll qualify cuz we surely gonna kick the shit outta the Zambians on Friday.
