Ex-Ghana U20 midfielder Alfred Duncan says he was delighted after his recent call-up to play for the senior national team the Black Stars ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Italy-based player caught the eyes of the technical handlers of the Black Stars late last year after featuring in just three games with some impressive showing for Serie A side Sampdoria side.

He was named in the provisional squad for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea but was not named in the final squad for the tournament.

The ex-Inter Milan midfielder featured in 26 games for Sampdoria but said playing for the Black Stars was one of the happiest days in his career.

"Since the day I started playing football that was my happiest moment" Duncan told an Accra based Radio station over his recent call-up into in the Black Stars.

"I do not think of certain things and for me that was a surprise because that was the first time I had joined the first team (of Sampdoria)".

Duncan made his debut for Ghana against Cape Verde way back in November 2012 and had since not been invited but the midfield dynamo believes he can follow in the footsteps of his former national U20 team-mates Baba Rahman and Frank Acheampong.

"It is just a matter of time. I believe the likes of Baba Rahman, Frank Acheampong had the opportunity to play for the Black Stars because of the previous experience they had with the team, but I know my time will also come," Duncan said.

"I will not hesitate to join the team when I am invited. Though the team has a lot of midfielders I am still not afraid".

Following his impressive performance in the midfield for his club last season, the club has extended his contract to 2019 but his former club Inter Milan has the right to buy the player if they wish.

Haven helped the Satellites to win bronze at the U20 World Cup in Turkey two years ago.

Duncan is keeping fingers crossed for that moment to don the senior national team jersey.
