SADA to partner with Pozzolana in the construction industry

Posted On Wednesday, 2nd May 2012

Business News of Wednesday, 2 May 2012Source: GNA Pozzolana Ghana Limited (PGL), a private cement manufacturing company, has expressed interest in partnering with the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) to train the youth in the northern regions in skills in the construction industry.

In this regard the two parties have agreed to develop a skills development training programme for the youth to teach them the use of Pozzolana cement in the construction industry.

Mr Douglas Borgsdorf, President of Pozzolana Ghana Limited, said this at the signing of an Expression of Interest (EOI) between his company and SADA in Tamale on Wednesday.

He said part of the agreement entailed which the training of the youth, would include both hard skills such as block making and basic accounting as well as soft skills such as sales and marketing and human resource management.

He said Hydroform, a block manufacturer and a key partner in the agreement, would mould the blocks for the construction of affordable houses and other projects.

Mr Borgsdorf said Pozzolana is a high quality cement grade which would help reduce construction cost especially in schools and other state institutions.

Alhaji Gilbert Seidu Iddi, Chief Executive Officer of SADA, commended PGL for its foresight in coming to partner with SADA to not only develop the entrepreneurial skills of the youth but also to contribute to the development of the north in general.

He said SADA was intervening on several fronts that would help bridge the development gap between the south and the north and uplift the living standards of the people.

He said as part of these interventions SADA had already embarked on an affordable housing programme using technology that would make the houses resistant to floods.**
