Rwandan giants Rayon Sports have released Ghanaian striker Geulli Koffi after he failed to impress during the trial period.

The former league champions decided against signing the Ghanaian who has spent four weeks on trial, according to club chairman Theogene Ntampaka.

Koffi is the second player to be rejected by coach Jean Francois Losciuto’s team after Togolese Sekle Zico Yao, who was released immediately after the Cecafa Kagame Cup last month.

Ntampaka said that Koffi was released after he failed to impress the technical staff during a month on trial.

He said: “He was given enough time to prove his worth but his level was not good enough in regard to our club ambition in the upcoming season.”

“There was also a misunderstanding with his agent, who asked for a lot of money compared to the player’s ability,” added Ntampaka.

The blues have signed two strikers; Govin Mutombo from Espoir FC and Yossa Bertrand from Mukura VS and they are in talks with Congolese Ibunda.

Jean Francois Losciuto’s team, who lost midfielder Djamal Mwiseneza to arch rivals APR FC, are struggling to build a strong team that will be able to compete well in the Caf Confederation Cup, national league and Peace Cup next season.
