Elche striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom wants to be part of Ghana’s World Cup plans by doubling his efforts in the Primera Division.

The 20-year-old made a huge mark for the first half of the season after scoring four goals in all competitions on his debut season in La Liga.

Boakye, on loan from Juventus, believes he can chart in way back into the Ghana national team after punching above his weight in the second half.

“I think it is the decision of every footballer to play at the World Cup. If you talk about the World Cup, the whole world is watching and when I was a child my dream was to play at the World Cup,” Boakye told MTNFootball.com

“And I want to do something that will be remembered in my country through World Cup. So I will do all that I can do to make sure I am doing a good job but when the decision comes it has to be the coach.

“By God’s Grace if I get the opportunity and I’m being called, mark it down; I will do something that people haven’t seen me do before because I know what God can use me to do.”

Boakye was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations but could not make his debut due to an ankle injury.

He played in June’s FIFA 2014 World Cup double-header against Lesotho and Sudan.

So far so gud for this prodigy chap. AA must call him cux he’s playing in a top league(spanish la liga) and scoring.

  2. Boro says:

In my opinion I think you were given the best of opportunities any player would wish for. You are not bad but I think a guy like Majeed has utilized his opportunity more than you did.
I also think your stamina is a bit suspect and must work on it. I have watched you play for Elche and I do not think your aggression towards goal is up to the level required of a world cup standard yet. However, I think with hard work you can get there because you have the skills and the technique.

From what I’ve seen from this season Boakye has more to offer than Jordan Ayew neither of them will make the starting line up but Boakye would make a bigger impact from the bench especially if we were losing and chasing the game and needing someone to get us a goal.
