Richmond Boakye declares himself fit for Ghana's opener

Posted On Saturday, 19th January 2013

Richmond-Boakye

Ghana striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom has declared himself fit for their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations opener against DR Congo on Sunday.

The 19-year-old, who twisted his ankle in training last Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, sat out the team’s final training in Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

MTNFootball.com understands it was a precautionary measure to rush the promising prospect.

The Sassuolo goal poacher is not guaranteed a starting role but he claims to have won the fitness battle.

“I’m fit and ready for the opening match,” Boakye declared after Saturday’s training session.

“I have been working with the Physio and I okay for the big match if the coach decides to use me. He is a former player and he will take the right decision.”

Boakye finished the first half of the Italian Serie B with nine goals.

Hei Awam coach. You make too much noise and is all nonsense. Who told you the Black Stars and indeed all other teams don’t do these practices. It is clear you want to show off to Ghanaians; printing in capitals just to attract attention. Just shut the hell up and let the coach do his job.
