Returnee John Pantsil set to captain Black Stars against Malawi

John Pantsil could be handed the Black Stars armband against Malawi
Defender John Pantsil will be handed the captain’s armband on his return to the Ghana national team.
The 31-year-old has not played for the Black Stars since February’s international friendly draw with Chile due to his inactivity.
But a move to Israel with Hapoel Tel Aviv has revived his international career where he has been seeing regular first team action.
Pantsil is ranked third in the captaincy hierarchy behind John Mensah and Michael Essien.
He captained the team at the 2012 Nations Cup finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Ghana holds a 2-0 advantage over Malawi going into the crucial game to be played in Lilongwe next weekend.

I have nothing against paintsil but i strongely believe that,he’s a dead horse!!the game of football has now changed asuch a player in the calibre of paintsil is a minus to the team.He add nothing to the team both in attack and defense. the earlier we find a suitable right full back,the better!with the invitation of david addy and wakaso,the problematic left full is solve.
Until Opare and Inkoom stop being Bench warmers he is the best option. In fact he is a Europa league left back… Has 2 world cup experiences and many African cup games. He deserves to be called back.

Opare did a good job against Malawi, especially in the second half. Paintsil however will bring leadership qualities which the Black Stars desperately need against Malawi. It is all good no worries. Coach Appiah and his Assistant Konadu have called up the right players now it is up to the team to deliver.
I hope they work on a lot of team building drills before they face Malawi. Lots of runs off the ball, give and go, one two touch. Waris is very good with give and go, one two touch around the box, and getting behind the defensive line without getting offside. He will be a deadly combination with Atsu and Dede. He is also lightening quick latching on to through balls behind the defensive line.
