FIFA has issued a 30-day ultimatum to Red Star Belgrade to pay the US$200,000 plus penalty owed Asante Kotoko for signing Nathaniel Asamoah.
The Serbian club have failed to pay a single cent of the total transfer fee due Kotoko for signing the striker in 2012.
Red Star were ordered earlier on by FIFA pay the due amount to Kotoko plus accruing interest after a ruling some months ago.
The Serbian club have however failed to heed to this directive – prompting the latest ultimatum from FIFA.
The world football governing body, FIFA, has now notified Kotoko in an official letter of the ultimatum.
FIFA stated they will be descending heavily on Red Star with hefty sanctions if they fail to honour this obligation by the time the ultimatum expires sometime next month.
The Kotoko board reviewed the fresh notification from FIFA on Wednesday and are eagerly awaiting payment from the Serbian club to use the funds shore up the club’s finances.
