Yusif Abubakar wants to win the Ghana Premier League title this season

By Patrick Akoto

Coach Yusif Abubakar  has stressed his number one priority this season will be to reclaim the Premier League title from defending champions  Kotoko.

The former Wassaman trainer has been tasked with the responsibility of winning the crown  they lost to the local giants last season.

The Blues have boosted their ranks with the acquisition of experienced players in the team and will be looking to challenge for honours in the upcoming campaign.

Abubakar was an assistant when Chelsea won the Premier League title for the first time in 2010 and he is eager to make the Berekum-based side champions again.

“The team has to win the League again and that is the big challenge. They called me to take up the mantle because the club believe I can help them achieve that aim,” Abubakar told Kumasi-based Fox FM

“It has shown that I  lived in harmony with them. The challenge will be very difficult more than last two seasons, but I believe we shall succeed.

“Pressure is part of the game. But as coaches we should be able to absorb certain pressures and concentrate. The pressure will come but it will not be a bad one.

“It will be pressure to show class because of the quality of players there. We are going to be united and fight for the ultimate goal.”

The new Premier League campaign commences on October 7.
