Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien has been slapped with a 400 Euros fine in Spain for driving at a speed exceeding 50 kilometers of the allowed limit.

The Real Madrid ace was also docked four points on his dirvers license for the same offence.

Essien was busted following routine check by the police on the M-40 Madrid road in February, GHANAsoccernet.com investigations have revealed

This means Essien is now close to losing his right to drive in Spain if he commits a similar offence in future.

The good news for the Ghanaian is that he passed a breathalyser test by the police which means he wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

But Essien is not the only Real Madrid player to have fallen foul of the law as Karim Benzema was also caught for a similar offence.

Benzema was driving 216 miles per hour on a road which is not permitted drive more than 100 miles per hour.

Both players were racing to beat the strict deadline for reporting for training under coach Jose Mourinho.
