Real Madrid chief Butragueno refuses to bite back at Barcelona after Mourinho ban scrapped

Real Madrid chief Emilio Butragueno has refused to comment on Jose Mourinho being cleared from his Supercopa suspension.

Mourinho and Tito Vilanova will be on the touchline when Real Madrid meet Barcelona in the two-legged Supercopa next month after both men had suspensions overturned on Tuesday.

Barca took aim at Mourinho after the verdict was made.

But Butragueno said: “We’re not here to comment on what Barcelona say, but to do so regarding a decision taken by the President of the Federation to exonerate Jose Mourinho, Marcelo and Ozil for the Super Cup. We respect this decision, as we’ve always done in the past, in which we all know Barcelona were the protagonists and Real Madrid never complained.

“It isn’t the first time such leniency is shown; the President of the Federation has the power to show it and we respect that.”
