Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila suffered an injury while in action for Mamelodi Sundowns in their 2-2 draw with Maritzburg United.
The 21-year-old pulled up a muscle in Fridayââ¬â¢s Premier League match and was replaced in the 21st minute by Wayne Arendse.
Sundowns were up 1-0 at the time of Sumailaââ¬â¢s exit with Katlego Mashego scoring an 8th minute opener in the game played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Maritzburg with another Ghanaian â⬓ Awal Mohammed in their starting line up â⬓ equalized and took the lead through Orlando Smeekes and Mario Booysen respectively.
Sundowns however struck late to earn the share of the spoils at home through a 90th minute goal by Khama Billiat.
The draw however sees the Brazilians cede their lead of the Premier League to Kaizer Chiefs as the South African top flight goes on a three-week break.
Sumaila should therefore be fit enough to return to first team duties with reports his injury is not as serious as initially feared.
The ex Asante Kotoko loanee has been a regular performer for Sundowns since his arrival at the start of the season.
