Ghana youth international Rabiu Mohammed is line to be drafted into the Black Stars to replace injured Michael Essien, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.
The 20-year-old could be called up for next month’s international friendly against Nigeria and the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland in September.
GHANAsoccernet.com sources say the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup winner is regarded as a like-for-like replacement for the Chelsea ace who is out of action for six months.
Mohammed was rewarded with a three-year-deal this month by French Ligue 1 side Evian Thonon-Gaillard after impressing on loan last season.
He played for Ghana’s Olympic team in the first leg 3-1 defeat to Nigeria in the All Africa Games qualifier.
Drafted into the Black Stars squad for the next matches? Yes. Rabiu would be another of the 2009 U-20 heroes who makes it into the Black Stars if that happens. But I think there are a number of other budding stars available to Plavi who could be a perfect replacement for Michael in a starting line up. Nevertheless, I wish Rabiu all the best.
That chap is full of power and confidence.
How can he replace Essien. Essien is defensive minded while Rabiu is offensive minded for any to replace Essien then is Afriyie Acquah of Palermo
Fool.

@Abroad,Rabiu is a versatile midfielder. He can play in both defensive and offensive midfield, but i think there are so many better midfielders that can be perfect replacement for Essien.
