Promotion is my biggest achievement - RTU coach Gargo

Mohammed Gargo has guided RTU back to the Ghana Premier League

By Patrick Akoto

Mohammed Gargo says guiding Real Tamale United to regain promotion to the Premier League is the biggest achievement of his young coaching career.

RTU recorded three straight wins in the Division One League play-offs after thrashing Unity FC 4-1 to secure their promotion back to the top flight in an amazing style.

The side was plunged into relegation last season after a difficult campaign, but coach Gargo says he has always believed the club could achieve promotion this year.

“We never gave up when things were tough but I had always had the believe that we were going to make it,” Gargo said

“I knew were going to beat them and so I am not surprised that we managed to achieve the feat,”

“We beat Bazooka and Tano Boafoakwa and I wasn’t convinced Unity FC’s victory over Bazooka was genuine,”

“My only disappointment is that some people started reading politics into the games and that for me was not good enough,”

“This is a great moment for the team and for me especially. I am also happy that we have proved many people wrong,”

“When we started, we had so many people who did not believe we could do it but we have being able to silence our critics.”

Gargo has endeared himself to the fans after guiding the club back to the top flight after just a season in the lower division.
