Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda isn't losing sleep after being overlooked for next week's pre-World Cup friendly against Montenegro in Podgroica.

Dauda’s lack of first team action at South African side Orlando Pirates seems to have cost him a place in the squad.

The 28-year-old has played second fiddle to home favourite Senzo Meyiwa, prompting coach Kwesi Appiah to give local hero Stephen Adams a look in ahead of the World Cup in June.

The decision to leave out the ex-Ashantigold shot-stopper has generated immense debate in the West African country.

However, Dauda says he is not getting overly worried and remains adamant he will fight his way back into the team ahead of the global piece.

"I had a conversation with the head coach of the Black Stars and he made it clear I have had so many opportunities so it is about time he gives the same opportunities to other upcoming goalkeepers who are also doing well for their respective clubs either in Europe or even in Ghana, so I am not worried at all," Dauda is quoted by Football411.

"The coach explained to me that I should keep training and keep my head up and that I shouldn't lose hope.

"I have taken that in good faith and I will see what the future holds for me in the coming days with my club in SA.

"Many have asked me whether am worried after I was not named in the squad, I tell them am not worried at all - I have a future with the Black Stars and that is paramount.

"I want to train well and give my all to my country and even my club."

He added: "I just started playing some games with Pirates so let's see what the future has for me. It's good that I am training and doing everything that the coaches tell me to do with my club.

"I even hired a goalkeeper's trainer when I came to Ghana for holidays, I am doing all of this to keep me in shape so that I won't be rusty.”

Despite being dropped for the friendly, he looks confirmed for a place in the final squad after goalkeepers’ coach Nassam Yakubu revealed on Tuesday that he will be on the plane to Brazil.
