The Black Maidens achieved beyound measure by clinching a bronze medal at the tournament hosted in Azerbaijan.

The team have received plaudits from all angles of the Ghanaian society for their historic feat and were accorded an overwhelming reception upon their return to the country on Monday night.

The team then proceeded to the Seat of Government in Osu on Tuesday afternoon on the request of President Mahama – where the lavish financial package was announced.

“You would have received a bonus had you qualified for the finals,” President Mahama said.

“I have instructed him (referring to Sports Minister) to pay that bonus to you.

“Not only pay that bonus but then it should be doubled and paid to you.

“This is a small token to show appreciation of the nation for making all of us proud at the World Cup.”

Ghana became the first African women’s team to clinch a medal at the U-17 World Cup.

Almost all the members of the Black Maidens are expected to be graduated into the national U-20 team, the Black Princesses.

Some of the players are still young nd cn play in the next WC so they shd look at that one too rather than promoting all of the into the princesses.

  2. MICHAEL says:

This a good one Mr President. Congratulations to the Black Maidens for making Ghana proud. I hope proper structures will be put in place so that the nation can build upon what they have achieved to guarantee future successes. Let this not be a nine-day wonder. The under 20 success of 2009 is there for all to see. Since that time, subsequent teams at that level have not been able to achieve that level of success. Did we go to sleep after that success? GFA, I hope you are listening.
