Premier League boss urges referees to be vigilant

Posted On Saturday, 28th April 2012

Premier League boss Welbeck Abra-Appiah has cautioned referees to maintain a high sense of professionalism with just five games to end the season.

Referees in the Ghanaian top flight are often noted for awarding strange decisions to aid teams either to escape relegation, win the championship or get a good placement on the league log.

And this the PLB boss is so desperate to avoid.

“The referees should help the game by being very fair,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“Usually there are reports around these time of dodgy decisions and intimidation on the part of host clubs.

“We don’t want this this season. We want the league to end just like it started, very sound so at the end of the day positions on the league table will be based on merit.”
