Hearts are struggling to attract top players

Hearts of Oak are struggling to stack up against rivals Asante Kotoko in the transfer market due to their sorry financial situation, GHANAsoccernet.com understands.

The Ghanaian giants cannot match up to their bitterest rivals in the transfer market, in an episode which has shocked football watchers.

The former African champions are no longer competitive on all fronts and shockingly unable to attract quality players to their fold ahead of the start of the new season.

The inability of the capital-based side to purchase top-notch players makes nonsense of their claim of  being the richest club in Ghana following recent flotation of shares.

To be charitable, Hearts have simply been poor in their recruitment drive this season after settling for less experienced and low-profile players ahead of the new season.

Suddenly the club cannot compete with fellow premier league clubs in the transfer market and can only sign players in the lower divisions comfortably in a rather pathetic and regrettable merry-go-round.

They have lost two prime targets to Kotoko in Emmanuel Asante and Ahmd Toure and could miss out on ex-Ghana youth defender Daniel Addo.

Hearts have not shown enough financial muscle and power play to attract experienced players as was shown during their pursuit of Aduana Stars goalkeeper Stephen Adams.

Prizing away Dreams FC’s shot-stopper Mutawakilu Seidu has also become a nightmare with claims deals for Richard Yamoah and Togolese striker Foovi Aguidi will be completed by Friday.

For the millions of Hearts fans around the globe, the sorry state of their club has become unbearable after playing catch-ups to their arch-rivals over the last three years in abject pain.

The Ghana Premier League title has remained elusive for the past five years and the upcoming season does not inspire confidence about a side which is desperate to recapture their lost glory.

Newly-appointed Herbert Addo Herbert Addo feels irritated over the team’s slow progress in the transfer market as they are struggling to meet the asking prize of their transfer targets.

Goalkeeper Stephen Adams, free agent Yakubu Mohammed and New Edubiase playmaker Asiedu Atobrah as well as Godfred Saka's supposed move to the Accra side has remained a mirage.

Now the club’s ambition of wrestling the Premier crown from the arch-rivals is being threatened as they have not made any significant signing this term, with the board largely to be blamed, according to insiders.

The Board has been criticized for their lack or no-show in the pursuit of players which has angered their suffering fans.
