Zambia coach Herve Renard has blamed his side’s 2-1 defeat to Ghana on Friday on their poor first half display.
The Chipolopolo could only manage a consolation through Nathan Sinkala with goals from Abdul Majeed Waris and Kwadwo Asamoah winning the day for the Black Stars in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier played in Kumasi.
Zambia dominated the possession especially in the second half of the game but failed to translate their dominance into creating enough goalscoring opportunities.
The Chipolopolo however started the game with a defensive posturing – allowing the Black Stars to boss the game while they look to use their immense pace for counter attacks which were few and far in between.
Coach Renard however in admitting his disappointment in losing to a bigger football country says his team could have done much better in the first half.
“Yes of course we are disappointed but we are in Ghana, we are not in a small country of football,” he said.
“I think we played a very good second half. We didn’t believe too much in the first half, it’s s shame because our chance was to win the game.”
