Ghana's quest for a second FIFA U20 World Cup title crashed after a 2-1 defeat to France in the semi-final at Bursa Atatürk Stadyumu in Bursa.

Ebenezer Assifuah recorded his fifth goal of the competition with a screaming effort from 20 yards out but an experienced French side, with ten men, resisted and snatched a narrow win over Sellas Tetteh's boys.

Ghanasoccernet.com rates how the Satellites fared against Les Bleuets on Wednesday afternoon.

Eric Ofori Antwi - 7.5 He cannot be blamed for France's opening goal. Thauvin penetrated the defence with easy and came one-on-one with the Amidaus Professionals goalkeeper.

His performance ensured the Black Satellites did not concede more goals in the first half as he stopped goal-bound efforts from Jean Behebeck and Yaya Sanogo.

Antwi has proven to be a great potential.

Seidu Salifu - 7 The Wa All Stars midfielder showed why comparisons with Chelsea star Michael Essien are spot on.

With regular Richmond Nketiah missing with injury, the fitted well as right-back and appeared an efficient tool.

Baba Rahman Abdul - 6.5 The Greuther Furth man was okay moving forward but he failed to do his primary responsibility on the pitch at the crucial moment. His failure to keep Thauvin under control brought Ghana's defeat. The Bastia whizkid successfully outwitted him before dragging a low drive home.

Baba Mensah - 5 Making his debut appearance in the competition, Baba had the chance to prove his home-based critics wrong but he failed to do that in the first half.

He appeared shaky and could not march the energy levels of Sanogo and Bahebeck.

Princebell Addico - 5.5 Addico had partnered Baba Mensah at the U17 level and should have established some form of cohesion but there was none from the two.

Their combined efforts failed to plunk the wings of Sanogo and Thauvin.

Alfred Duncan - 5.5 Duncan appeared merely overrated and did not play to the hype around him. He failed to impose his presence in the middle as he fizzled out against Pogba.

Except on a free occasions when he went forward. His set-pieces were testimonies of his bad game.

Clifford Aboagye - 7 Ghana's revival in the second half revolved around the Udinese-target. He set up Assifuah for the leveller and caused the French to commit fouls in the second half.

Frank Acheampong - 7 The Anderlecht youngster had his pace curtained by the French defence. The 19-year-old could not replicate the performance against Chile.

Michael Anaba - 7 Playing at an unusual right wing role, the captain came into the game more often and had a header palmed just away.

Kennedy Ashia - 6.5 The Liberty Professionals attacking midfielder dropped deep into the middle and acted as a agent of deceit but the decoy with Assifuah did not produce results before he was replaced by Boakye-Yiadom.

Ebenezer Assifuah - 8 Scored Ghana's only goal of the game with a cracking effort and was a constant nightmare for the French defence. Simply, he was Ghana's best player on the pitch.

Boakye-Yiadom - 5 Michael Sai - 4
