There is a MASSIVE PLOT to unseat incumbent Ghana Football Association boss Kwesi Nyantakyi at the next congress in 2015, Happy FM reported on Monday.

According to the Accra-based sports station, there are plans by some unnamed persons to ensure Nyantakyi is dethroned at the next election so that they can take full control of the Ghana Football Association.

The unnamed persons are reported to have started the ground work to bring in a new face to steer the country’s football by pumping massive cash into the grand scheme designed to unseat the popular leader of Ghana football.

According to the report a staggering $70,000 has be made available to some journalists, politicians and those at the grassroots amongst others to make Nyantakyi unpopular.

The report says faceless individual have also started by bribing division one clubs by paying their referees fees in the bid to buy their sympathy one year before elections.

This comes with increasing signs that the 44-year-old could go unopposed following his outstanding performances over the last eight years which has seen Ghana move from global also-rans to permanent impressive World Cup participants.

Nyantakyi has remained a cult figure since he ascended the presidency, making him a powerful force to contend with which has forced his critics to work against his potential victory at the next congress of the Ghana FA.

Whoever wants to unseat the highly-respected football chief must have the support of the professionals clubs and leagues as well as regional block for a tilt at the FA job.

Nyantakyi grip on power depends on the support of congress but he seems to enjoy massive support from many of the members.

Today (Monday December 30) marks exactly eight years that the affable football administrator was elected as the first president of the Ghana Football Association.

He steered Ghana to three successive World Cup appearances, Africa's only U20 World Cup title and several other achievements.
