Pirates coach launches fresh Fatau Dauda attack, claims Ghanaian not good enough

Fatau Dauda

Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa has twisted the knife further into his Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda implying he does not merit a place in the South African side’s starting line-up because of his unimpressive showing in training.

The latest comments of the coach could hugely damage Dauda’s chances of making it to the World Cup as his position in the Black Stars is under scrutiny because of the lack of playing time in South Africa.

This comes just four weeks after De Sa claimed that the Ghanaian shot-stopper must look for playing time elsewhere – a statement that angered the club.

The 28-year-old has been under intense pressure from the Ghanaian media over his bench role at Pirates which resulted in comments that he should be excluded from the Black Stars squad for the World Cup in June.

Supporters of the South African giants have been piling pressure on De Sa for Dauda to be given the starting role after the first choice goalkeeper Meyiwa leaked goals badly.

But the Pirates coach says he has chosen Meyiwa as the first choice because of the impressive showing.

“Dauda is on the bench based on what I see at training. We don’t pick based on media stories. You guys don’t see what we see,” the Orlando Pirates coach said on Monday night after their 2-1 win over Ajax Cape Town in a PSL match.

“If Dauda is good enough to be on the bench he will be,  and if he is sharp enough to play then he will.”

Dauda has not played a competitive match for Pirates since joining them from Ghanaian side AshGold in August.

Wow, if this is true, then we are in deep trouble. Our number one goalkeeper is struggling to be selected in the first 11 in his club? I am just astonished because he appears to be doing well in the Black Stars. Maybe because he puts in his 101% when he plays for the Black Stars

How good is the South African League and what has that coach ever achieved in his life to assess a player who is a member of the Ghana National Senior team?He might be having some beef with the player,I suggest Fatau gets a new team.I also blame people who pretend to be managing our players, they are so poor such that they don’t care where they send their players. Why should we send our best players to a place like South Africa & DR Congo? How can they develop their talents?

      • BoscoGh says:

        Good comments and good question!
what has the so called first choice goalie achieved with pirates and with his national side?
Sometimes the fortunes of players are determined by managers/coaches who for no apparent reason can refuse to play you regardless of your form.

But as pointed out, I see no reason why (monetary aside) Ghanaians should play in SA or DR Congo.
If the SA league is that prestigious and competitive, they wouldn’t have been booted out of the ongoing CHAN tournament at the group stage, causing their sports minister to describe them as “useless”

        Dauda, come home and play!!

      • OGYA says:

Fatau Dauda is not doing well in the Black Stars as some of you want it to be. In most of our games he never had to do much, when it became obvious that the pressure was on us like the 2nd leg Egyptian game he conceded goals.

As we all know Fatau is not supposed to be the Black Stars goalkeeper if Adam Kwarasey had paid the bribes to the coaches as Fatau did.

What goes around comes around. I hope you all haven’t forgotten about the excuse that Ghana goalkeeper coach Yakubu gave as to how he selects the 1st choice for the team. He said it was based on some “enthusiasm and a whole boat load of shit” . Now guess what its the same excuse that the Orlando Pirate coach is given. It is as if the Orlando Pirate coach is debunking that nonsense of excuse that was given by that milk brain black Star coach Yakubu.

We have all known that Adam Kwarasey is far better than Fatau but politics is what is preventing him from being in the post for Ghana.

All I can say is GOD and ALLAH is great. If you live by the sword, You die by the sword and Fatau Dauda is getting what he deserves.

  2. me says:

well if Dauda is good enough for the blackstars then he is more than good enough for me. These south Africans want their national team goal keeper at the post all the time. Dauda made a big mistake going to that club.

    • Stranger Danger says:

I did not know that that guy was their #1 goal keeper… that explains everything.

  3. EA1us says:

This coach has some kind of BEEF with dauda I believe. Mighty GHANA’s 1st is not good enough for him? This is inexplicable! How much money is the other keeper paying this coach to play? Perhaps….dauda can’t beat that PRICE. Dauda, have you ever slept with his girlfriend? Lol

  4. Final Whistle says:

I don’t see Dauda playing. There is no foreign player playing regularly in Pirates under diz useless coach. He benches players when the fans or media put presure on him. If he can sacrifice Champions league trophy by benching the teams captain for no reason, then Dauda is in hot waters. Wait and see dat he wl set Dauda up by fielding him in a game that he wl use his weakest defence

  5. real saba says:

I’m not surprised to read this, I have nothing personal against Dauda but I can boldly say there are keepers in Ghana who could do better than he Dauda when giving the support he is getting from both Akwasi Appiah and the goal keepers trainer.AA and his coaching team have not been fair to kwarasey, , how do you expect a player to perform if the said player knew very well that you doubt his quality? I strongly believe Dauda has nothing to do with the world cup if his situation doesn’t change! He’s just an average keeper and doesn’t deserve any special preference when selecting players. If you can’t be a first choice of pirates what the u got to do with a team aiming to qualify ahead of brasil, u.s.a and Portugal? Are we serious at as a nation?has AA asked himself for once why kwarasey has been consistent in a league better than the one he Dauda is struggling to even warm the bench and yet there’s doubt over him? ? The keepers trainer should be sack asap! I prefer olele taking the place of Dauda. Olele can inspire and guide Daniel agyei and kwarasey. All the above mentioned keepers have better cv than Dauda not to talk of international exposure.

    • Assemblyman says:

I agree boss, totally to the sacking of the goalkeeper trainer Yakubu..He doesnt deserve to be there with regards to an article I read about him.Which diminishes the confidence of not only Kwarasey but other keepers in the blackstars set up..Its so pathetic..

  6. Kwame Adu-Gyamfi says:

I don’t think Dauda is cut out for black stars at the moment. He definitely need some playing time if he wants to go. Kwarasey is playing regularly. Richard Kingson is back in form for his club. Also Daniel Agyei plays week in and week out for his club in South Africa. We have good goalkeepers.

  7. lalasu says:

what nonsense is this..if he is not good why did u go for him…this is nonsense in the highest order

  8. lalasu says:

that is how this pple are…the discrimination n aparthaism is still in them…be it black or white, they all discriminate against foreigners…no wonder their national team is a flop n a disgrace…surely u dont plant tomato n harvest apple

    • Assemblyman says:

Massa, its not about anybody hating somebody there..Its a subject of hard work and determination..When Dauda first signed with the club.He was aware they had a first choice goalkeeper. And there wasnt any other way he was going to take the goalkeeping position on a silver plater..All because he is Ghana’s number one..So its either he works hard to take the post and shame the coach or shut the hell up over there..He has those choices..

      • spellBOUND says:

thank you assemblyman…. those criticizing the coach should think and blame dada for not weighing all his options before putting pen to paper. players need to learn that its not always about the money. I’m glad the coach isn’t just going by name, and by performance from what he sees in training. ur ghana’s #1 keeper, AND SO WHAT???????????????????????????????????

AA, needs to give kwaresay another chance to redeem himself.

  9. Assisi says:

The Orlando Pirates coach, De Sa is rude for not fielding our country’s number 1 keeper. That’s shocking. I suggest he must let our goalkeeper go on loan for the rest of the season for the sake of the World Cup. He shouldn’t destroy Fatau Dauda’s career. That is pure wickedness: not playing him and not allowing him to go on loan. If that continues, Fatau should quit the club and risk penalties which would then be resolved by CAF or FIFA.

    • spellBOUND says:

assisi, why all this for 1 player. is he the ONLY KEEPER we have?? AA and the keepers rainer has show favoritism. such is detrimental to a team. dauda made his bed by going to SA, now let him lie in it.

  10. Jesus Fanatic says:

Stupid folks!! What are you guys hating I the coach? Kwasiafo), low minded peeps. Juju dauda is not good enough and I knew it from last year Afcon and thank God a coach who is not willing to take bribes from him has seen it. How on earth are you gonna compare dauda with their current keeper? Dude odds miles ahead of dauda not to think of Kwarasey. Broke will kill AA and all the this baboons from the GFA. Only God knows when he will attack this corrupted dudes.
    Bless

  11. Papadinho says:

Dude should be dropped from the wc squad. Is God for him and I guess his juju is not working again abi Ahaha. That’s a dummy slap right there, no doubt Kwarasey has been fasting and praying. Good is now working and time to kick this dude out cause he brings nothing to the team apart from juju. I’d thou ask me, Kwarasey, Agyei and off the local keepers should be taken to the wc
    Bless

  12. Assemblyman says:

I dont think the pirates coach hates Dauda.I guess rather Dauda should be ready for a competition,if he wants to play at the club.Since they already had a first choice who was performing very well. Therefore,Dauda cannot take the position on a silver platter, all because he is Ghana’s number one choice..Its either he works hard to dispose the current goalkeeper or he shuts the hell up..

  13. bawah says:

DAUDA QUALIFIED THE BLACK STARS FOR THE WORLD CUP 2014.WHAT DUDE COULDN’T DO!A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT!

  14. Maxwell says:

I have said this before that AA is not a top notch coach .everybody can see clearly that dauda has lost his form but Ghana maintains him .if they take him to the world cup the senior players in the black stars who are not happy with what’s is happening will rise against the coach .the fa should watch out. Then John mensah, painstil should be included because they have international exposure

    • Assemblyman says:

Maxwell this goes to tell you that our leaders despise the truth..Ghanaians in general are not honest..Just imagine this sort of politicking in our national senior team with AA down to the goalkeepers trainer Yakubu..Whats are those committee set up on our national team doing?taking bonuses and tea allowances?what sort of advise are they giving to the playing body..Something isnt right at all and it looks obvious from all angles..I am sorry for Ghana football..

  15. kuukuphilly says:

let’s just say dauda is good but the coach doesn’t want him to get that publicity,if I am dauda am leaving the club now not just for world cup but my career as well..
