The Ghana Football Association’s endorsement of Tigo Community Soccer as a great platform to discover talent sent football agents and soccer scouts to the Mampong Municipal Area to trade in footballers.
Waekese won the sixteen team competition after beating Esikafo Ambaentem in the hotly contested final match. Mampong Newtown finished in third place.
At least 240 footballers in the Mammpong Municipal area took part in the two day knockout tourney which also observed the International Peace and Sport Day by raising white cards as a tribute to World peace.
Scouts from BA United, Bechem United, AS Monaco Academy and Hasaacas were all present at the games looking out for the next big talent to come out of Mampong.
Bechem United scout Bishop John Kweku Wusu said Ghana has too much talent walking the streets and if harnessed properly the country could make more in a one year than the revenue from cocoa.
“When players make it in football especially in Europe they will earn more money than cocoa gives Ghana. Look at the exceptional talent on display in this town. Many can play in Europe. These are future Black Stars players.†Bishop said.
At least six players were scouted and sale agreements concluded in principle by the time the tournament ended on Sunday.
A medical team from the Mampong General Hospital advised patients who had hypertension, low HB and high sugar levels after undergoing glucose tests.
The next stop for the Tigo Communioty Soccer tourney will be in Sunyani where yet again sixteen teams from the municipal area will be in competition to determine the Champion of Sunyani.
