Ghana internationals Jordan and Andre Ayew have been revealed as Muslims despite their names suggesting they belong to a different religion.

The brothers, sons of African legend Abedi Pele, had their religious leanings out of public knowledge but has now been made known to the public.

Both of their parents Abedi Ayew and Maha Ayew are Muslims and the two Olympique Marseille players have shown great commitment to their Islamic faith.

This now puts to rest the argument over the religion of the players as they have rarely shown their religious commitment in public in the past.

  6. Collins says:

GSN koraaa… Always wanting to sensationalize things.. Is it news that the Ayews are muslims?.. Are you now in this journalism business/ following the Black Stars?.. We know a majority of your writers are muslims.. Why are you pretending not to have knowledge of this.. Just BE REAL GUYS.. You [GSN] and I know this is a pic from a video [By BeInSport] taken at the Kumasi Central Mosque before the Black Stars massacred Egypt which has your boss, Saanie Daara somewhere in there.. The inscription on the pic: LES AYEW EN MODE “BLACK STARS” = THE AYEWS IN BLACK STARS MOOD

  7. Ayuba Mampong says:

  9. Craze-K says:

Ah, but is this news…..!?!?!? They have been Muslims from birth. They have been going to the Mosque with their dad all these while. Watch Dede before games, he prays the Muslim way. And which of their names suggest otherwise? Dede, Morgan, Andre, Jordan, Ayew….. which religions do they suggest? Christianity, Judaism, Traditionalists………? Let’s be serious. Thinking of where John Mahama should fall….

  10. lukman says:

  14. spellBOUND says:

“revealed as Muslims despite their names suggesting they belong to a different religion.”

THAT IS THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER READ! GSN, this is the 21st century. wake up from your 12th century tribilistic and religious ignorance. i go to church with a guy named Hamza (a so called muslim name).

  15. lukman says:

Well if you will be honest to your self, will you classify this report as stupid if they were shown be at church. What’s your problem. If you don’t like it then that’s ur wahala but for some of us , we say God bless them more more more

    • spellBOUND says:

Do u hear ur ignorance mate? this report is STUPID no matter what ur reasoning is. im sorry if u still live in a place where it is unheard of for a person named Abraham to be muslim or Hamza to be a christian.

  16. mykwasi says:

GSN, whoever published this can go hang themselves for thier stupidy.

  17. Ntoba says:

What has religion got to do with sport……? GSN so u want as to do what abt dis report bcs some of us already know abt dis since day one…..Pls Kojo do onto others just lik de way u want others to do on to u……religion is just a choice, after non has died n com back to tell u dat God is a Christian or Muslim……Ghanaian till death…..gunners for life…lol

  18. lukman says:

Well if someone is named Abraham or ibrahim or what ever. It got nothing to do with this story. As far as am concern Gsn choose what story they want to publish and everyone has a choice of comment. so on this story is good to see this boys standing in front of the Almighty God with such a humble appearance .Total submission to the will of God is amazing and rewarding. God bless you guys

  19. Love says:

It’s sickening gsn get serious.who was so much interested abt their relegion? Who hasn’t rested cos of their relegion.post serious stories n stop some dis irrelevant stories. Being a christian or Moslem doesn’t change ur style of play.who doesn’t know dey r Moslems? Ghana is multi relegious state n we see ourselves as one.gsn grow up!!!!!!!!!!

  20. kukuphilly says:

    gsn is bored paa.

  21. hamzy says:

    kojo you are an animal

  22. Capo di Capi says:

People, give GSN a break. As some of you, I also knew long ago that they are Muslims. But what about those who didn’t before this publication? I’d witness serious argument by soccer fans about the religious status of these players before. They’re stars so some of these things about them should be expected. Some fans even go to the extent of arguing about the number of wives, cars and kids (BS player) they’ve got; theirs houses etc. I agree it’s all got nothing to do with football but people will still talk and argue. For those who didn’t know or doubted, this story (picture) will make them now. Even Christians we belong to different denomination and people would sometimes want to know which one you belong to. Don’t they? I see this story as nothing but informative.
    God bless our homeland Ghana.

  23. Craze-K says:

You guys should take things easy…. I blame GSN though, for the angle they chose to go with their argument. Names mean nothing in this age…. Your faith is what really defines you, not your name. A certain Abraham could be called Ibrahim by his Arab peers vice versa. A certain Suleiman could be called Solomon my his Christian peers vice versa. The problems with the story are 2… One, the name angle and second the fact that they portray the story as no one knowing the brothers are Muslims. To say, and I quote “The brothers, sons of African legend Abedi Pele, had
their religious leanings out of public knowledge but
has now been made known to the public”, is misleading. We already know. At least I have heard Dede grant interview to joyfm before and stated that… Jordan and his father have prayed on legon campus on countless occasions. Fine, GSN can run a story on their faith. However, these line of arguments are illogical and amateurish.

  24. Kawawa says:

Religion is gradually bringing division…. See it now???

  25. safuratu mustapha says:

U’ve even considered him of being a goat…..he is rather a sheep! he should jux clear off wit dis folktale religion of his…such a dummy

  26. Mr Joe says:

Ghanaians are aimless, lack of education, religion is religion worshiping One God…why all this insults and debates?

  27. ziat says:

so why is the christians hating? aaah be civilised ok if muslims were the ones to be saying this you the christians will say mulims are harsh. learn sense and stop hating
