Ghana’s U23 team toured facilities at the newly built stadium in Uyo on Wednesday ahead of their international friendly against Nigeria.

The Black Meteors will be facing the CHAN team of Nigeria in a game being recorded as a full international friendly on Friday.

The game is being used to officially open the newly-built 30,000 ultra-modern Akwa Ibon International Stadium.

Brazilian legend Pele is amongst high profile personalities expected at the grand opening of the stadium which will be commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The edifice bears similarities with Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, the Bird Nest Stadium in Beijing China, and the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The newly built 30,000 capacity stadium will host the Super Eagles 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on November 19.
