Posted On Friday, 26th October 2012

Kwame Karikari scored for AIK who held PSV Eindhoven

There were Ghanaian interests in Thursday night’s Uefa Europa League as a lot of Ghanaian stars were involved in action.

Striker Amponsah-Karikari as well as Ghana-target Karim Bellarabi were on target for AIK Stockholm and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

Rapid Wien 0-4 Bayer Leverkusen

The Germans enjoyed a memorable night in Austria by thrashing Rapid Wien 4-0.

Though Leverksen were swashbuckling in general, it was the 22-year-old Karim Bellarabi who displayed a polished performance to steal the show.

He scored with a powerful volley in the 58th minute.

Panathinaikos 1-1 Lazio

Speedster Quincy Owusu-Abeyie came off the bench in the 68th minute to play part of Panathinaikos’1-1 home drawn game with Italian Serie A side Lazio.

Racing Genk 2-1 Sporting Lisbon

Midfielder Bernard Yao Kumordzi was introduced in added time by Racing Genk who piled more pressure on Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon by beating them 2-1 at the Cristal Arena in Group G.

Rosenborg BK 1-2 FC Metalist Kharkiv

Midfielder Awal Issah Mohammed watched from the Rosenborg bench as Ukrainian side FC Metalist Kharkiv scored at the death to beat them 2-1 at their own backyard.

Helsingborg 1-2 Hannover

Ivorian Didier Ya Konan struck with the last kick of the match as Hannover 96 bounced back from an added-time equaliser to break Helsingborgs IF hearts.

21-year-old former Right to Dream Academy graduate David Accam played the entire second half for the Swedish side.

Levante 3-0 FC Twente

The Spanish side thrashed their Dutch opponents 3-0 to consolidate their second place on the table.

Dutch-born Ghanaian wing-wizard Edwin Gyasi was axed from the Twente squad for the game.

Young Boys 3-1 Udinese

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu made an injury return to play 45 minutes for Udinese in the away defeat.

Hapoel Tel Aviv 1-2 Viktoria Plze?

Ghana right-back John Pantsil was introduced in the 69th minute and booked in the 88th minute as the Czech Republic side overcame a lacklustre first-half display and a 1-0 deficit to beat the Israeli side.

AEL 0-1 Fenerbahçe

Former King Faisal playmaker Enoch Ebo Andoh failed to win a place in the AEL Limassol first team squad as Fenerbahçe pipped them 1-0.

Dnipro 3-1 Napoli

Both Samuel Inkoom and Derek Boateng watched from the stands as their FC Dnipro side posted a 3-1 win over Italian side Napoli.

Inkoom and Derek watched from the stands! We need a right back as opare is injured and derek’s enthusiasm. back up u 2

  2. Kay says:

I watched Quincy Owusu Abeyie, I was like what is wrong with Akwasi Appiah? Quincy was awesome, opening Lazio’s defense like a sharp knife passing through a hot butter.
AA should please use his head not his heart in his call up if he really want Ghana to win this AFCON. What a talent !!!!

  3. sirjohn says:

oh GSN u left out dede and jordan ayew marseille match with b.munchenglabach, which OM lost 2goals to nil.

  4. game mind says:

@RANDY YOU ARE RIGHT…WE SHOULD SPREAD THE NEWS ..Speedster Quincy Owusu-Abeyie came off the bench in the 68th minute to play part of Panathinaikos’1-1 home drawn game with Italian Serie A side Lazio.Quincy was awesome, opening Lazio’s defense like a sharp knife passing through a hot butter.AA SHOULD TRY TO CALL QUINCY……

  5. Chu says:

Quincy is the bravest fastest winger we have but has the least defensive discipline and is not willing to learn.

  6. Chu says:

He feels he has a sharp attacking style but contemporary soccer requires dual role players and he is not one

    • Randy says:

Have you been watching him lately? he goes back to defend these days. He played three positions yesterday if you happened to watch the match. We need him no doubt about that.
With Quincy on the right with Atsu on the left, opposing defenders would have too much work to do, that leaves Gyan, Warris, Kwadwo or Dede chances to just tap in goals.
